ExchangeGuard Insurance

ExchangeGuard - International Health Insurance

With ExchangeGuard, there are many policy maximum, coinsurance, and deductible choices to choose from to meet the different needs of our customers, making ExchangeGuard a great international medical insurance plan to choose for students, dependents and families with young children when the primary visa holder is studying, researching, teaching or participating in a cultural exchange program in the U.S.

You can choose from these policy maximum options: $100,000, $250,000, or $500,000 with ExchangeGuard Insurance.

To meet the requirements of many universities, international students, and the requirements for J visa holders, the plan provides coverage for medical expenses, emergency medical evacuation, and repatriation of remains.

With the ExchangeGuard insurance plan, you can choose either ExchangeGuard Choice, which offers a 6 month waiting period for pre-existing conditions or ExchangeGuard Essential, which has a longer waiting period, 12 months, for coverage of pre-existing conditions. These options allow you to choose the coverage that fits your needs best.

There are many other unique features of both ExchangeGuard plans:

  • You can purchase coverage for the exact number of days that you need, you are not required to buy for full months; this will help many scholars save money.
  • F2 and J2 visa holders can be covered even if the F1's or J1's policy was purchase through the school or elsewehere.

ExchangeGuard insurance is extendable up to a duration of 12 months at a time and can be renewed for a maximum of 4 years. If you need to end your coverage, you can request a cancellation and a refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee, for the unused days as long as you have no claims on file.

To be eligible for this plan you must hold a a valid F-1/F-2/F-3 visa or J1/J2 visa. Your host country must be the U.S., you must be outside your home country, and you must not have established a resident status in your country of study. You may be asked to prove your eligibility for ExchangeGuard insurance, in that case you will need a copy of your visa or other immigration documents, such as I-20 or DS-2019.

Even though ExchangeGuard insurance meets the minimum criteria established by many universities, you should first check the compliance or waiver form provided to you by your university to make sure that this plan meets all of the requirements before buying the insurance. If you're unsure or you need the compliance/waiver form to be completed by the insurer, just let us know and we will assist you.

ExchangeGuard insurance is underwritten by Lloyd's, and is rated A "Excellent" by A.M. Best.

ExchangeGuard insurance provides the coverage for COVID-19 (Coronavirus) just like any other eligible medical condition that occurs after the effective date of the policy.
